Objective:

Enhance public understanding and awareness of fisheries and wildlife values and their habitats and to promote a better understanding of the importance of waterways and wetlands & their threats through on-site interpretation.

Process:

An Interpretation Concept Plan was written for the whole site,(property covers 120 hectares of wetland habitat under restoration) including future reference to off-site brochures and educational material. Interpretation planning included input into the design and layout of the kiosk, liaison with local Runanga and the Waiau Trust.

Production:

  • Two orientation/recreation panels

  • Five on-site panels within the shelter (including frosted wildlife panels onto the glass)

  • One self-guided walk brochure on the natural history, restoration project and landscape features.

  • One off-site brochure for Visitor Centres
